Gomorrah is an Italian crime family drama which has garnered numerous awards. I found it a little hard to follow, with its plethora of characters and their various motivations, but it certainly had flair and style. Repeated viewings may be in order to get a better grip on all of the subplots (and there are as many subplots as there are characters here). The scene where two of the young would be mafioso (they have ripped off a cache of automatic weapons) are firing weapons in their underwear into and across a river is riveting and unusual. These two, Toto and Simone, are the central story.
The film is adapted from a non-fiction book on the terror, lawlessness and corruption of the Camorra crime families of Naples.
