Nick Curran & the Lowlifes

On “Dream Girl”, Nick Curran seems to be channeling his best Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Then on “The Lowlife” Nick Curran (and The Lowlifes) seems to be channeling his best Little Richard. “Ain’t No Good”? There’s his Bill Haley and the Comets. Jerry Lee Lewis must be sitting in somewhere here on “Rocker”.

“Flyin’ Blind” just plain rocks-a-billy, featuring Phil Alvin.

This album hit me as a real surprise. It kicks. Makes one wish for a divey blues bar to appear on a hot Saturday night (it’s winter her after all), with a postage sized dance floor. Let the Rolling Rock flow.

Check it out!
