I wasn’t expecting much here, and I got what I expected: Not much. For a Bush Basher (me) there was nothing new here. And anyway, it’s a bit boring to watch something that will most likely prove unchallenging. Preaching to the choir (and listening) is a waste of time.
I’ll only comment on the actors. Good caricatures: Josh Brolin as W, Toby Jones as Karl Rove, Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney, Scott Glenn as Rumie. Whatever the hell happened to Rumie anyway. He daid? He sure faded away. Cheney take note.
Elizabeth Banks as Laura Bush is an odd case. Nice portrayal, but the disconnect is what’s a nice lady doing falling for a dick like W? Probably that’s not the real Laura. The performance is perhaps too sympathetic.
The two portrayals I had more problems with though were Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice and Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell. Newton’s portrayal was just goofy. Rice comes across as sort of an idiot, but I give the real Rice more credit than that. Wright’s performance as Colin Powell was just empty.
