The Last Winter ~ (USA, 2006) ~ DVD

This is one of those environmental horror flicks, complete with goofy, real or imagined ‘monsters’. The monsters may be some kind of ice induced mass hysteria. Which doesn’t make them any less goofy. The head honcho of a polar oil-drilling advance team is Ron Perlman, currently starring in the FX Sopranos wannabe, biker melodrama Sons of Anarchy. Here he’s on a snow-mobile (“we call ‘em snow machines up there in Alaska”).

Pretty silly. While the script wants us to pay attention to the character driven elements, and the cautionary tale factor, they’re overshadowed and made irrelevant by the fey ‘visions’.
