I work at a company that mortgaged its soul a few years ago and bought into Oracle (one year since implementation). So it was with some dismay – though not surprise – that I read the news that Oracle’s Top Dog (and I use the word “dog” with all due respect to the loyal four-legged creatures of this earth) Mr. Larry Ellison tops the list of highest paid executives for 2008 at a “compensation” package worth 84.6 million dollars. “Compensation”, ha! Those of us who struggle with this buggy piece of garbage passing for “software” are the ones who oughta be compensated.

That’s a 38% jump from last year. That’s a lifetimes worth of cost of livinginccreases. Of course, we’re all accountable, right? So who recommended Mr. E for this bump? Why Mr E. his own self, it is said. And of course, he took his own advice. That’s the way it works up there, my man. That’s why he gets paid the big bucks. Well…yeah!

Oracle’s idea of thinking outside the box, is to purposely make sure that any convention that may hint of Microsoft needs to be changes.  Very creative. If Oracle were a child toy (which it acts like on occasion) it would be recalled due to a swallowing danger. If Oracle were an automobile, all the crash test dummies would be dead before you knew it. In fact, if you’ve had the pleasure of gagging through an Oracle implementation (ERP they calls it) then you know what a crash test dummy feels like. If not. just bang your head through some plate glass several times a day. ERP. Excessively Rudimentary and Pathetic. Egregiously Rotten Provider. And so on.

Don’t spend it all in one place, Larry.
