So McCain has  already played the Vet card. A bit anxious there, weren’t you, John? This is a card that can be overplayed. Even for an ex-POW. And over Veterans Affairs, no less. But when called on his slavish and out-of-touch vote (oh wait, he didn’t even show up to vote) he jumped off the issues and into the “I won’t be lectured by a non-Vet” mode.
