Wind Chill ~ (USA, 2007) ~ Cable

Windchill earnestly attempts to bring another dimension to the supernatural-horror genre, so it deserves credit for at least that. Or does it? It certainly doesn’t rise to the level of intellectual fare (though it tries) and there’s little or no gore or slicing and dicing. Who is this movie trying to please, anyway?  Just not sure who the audience is.

Filmed in a dark blue-black night time claustrophobic setting, it’s hard to even see (at least on the ’small’ screen). It’s a students on Christmas break movie, with a male philosophy student and a self-centered girl on a ride home. Part of their early discussion plays itself out in a road accident, a stranded in a blizzard story on a lonely country road.

The hmmm-that-makes-me-think hook is just not interesting enough to make me forget just why I might have wanted to watch this in the first place. For some goofy, waste some time gore fun. Go elsewhere.
